Grandma and Me (Hand in Hand)
Created by lkovach03 on Jul 27, 2011
This design is for my grandma,my best friend, my 'Chupe'. Mom and I take care of her in her own home, and have been for many years. This t-shirt represents the fact that we can beat this disease together. As she can no longer speak for herself, I must take a stance for her. I have much sadness and anger towards this disease, so I turned those feelings into a positive and am now chairing the first ever Walk to End Alzheimer's in Brighton,Mi. If (by a longshot) I won this contest, all money won would go towards the walk. I am not a professional artist, just a small town girl trying to make a difference in the course of this disease. This picture was taken a few days ago of Chupe and I. I thank you for taking the time to view my submission!

Love this shirt. I also have pictures of my moms hands they were taken
during the time of our journey with this diease. Her hands became often times very symbolic and a focal point I don't ever remember a visit we did not hold hands. Beautiful shirt.

I looked at every submission, this one touched my heart!
My mother in law is only 62 and has early onset Alzheimers, already moderate to severe. My goal in life is to make each day count for her and my 3 year old daughter, before it is to late.
Hope is all we can ask for. It's too late for our family, but not for others.
Let's find a cure.

Thank you both so much for your kind words. I really wanted to capture the heart of this disease, and for me it's in the hands. Chupe can no longer remember my name, she knows I'm a 'safe' person, and that she loves me. We sit hand in hand all the time, and it's ok that she doesn't remember...we know, at that moment, everything will be ok.

Great design, the most original I've seen in this contest. Good representation of the disease and what it means (lost my grandma to Alzheimer's) You have my vote all the way.

I personally don't know if I would wear it as it's a bit feminine for my taste, but this is the most original design, so I'm given ya a 5. jt

Very sweet image! My father has early onset Alzheimer's, diagnosed at age 58. Breaks my heart to watch him everyday, I can understand what your going through. I love the idea of hands, I might have to start taking pictures like this myself of dad and I.
