The table erupted in laughter. Gonzo's joke made Kermit spit his tea out across the table and onto Miss Piggy's favorite blouse. Miss Piggy gasped in disgust and began yelling at Kermit while Statler and Waldorf began their usual cackles. I couldn't help but chuckle, even with Miss Piggy shooting me a look of disapproval. The moment of laughter stretched out even further when Miss Piggy finally gave into a smile then a giggle then howling laughter. This was a typical Sunday afternoon for me as a child. My stuffed animal Muppets and I all sat around my plastic table sharing tea and stories. The Muppets demonstrate the essence of friendship and love to children every single day with their playful banter and genuine care for each other.
