In Japanese traditions, if you make a thousand paper cranes, your wishes will come true. I am trying to make the paper cranes form into a rising sun. The message is that I hope the paper cranes will bring wishes of hope, love, rebirth and renewal to the people of Japan.

This is one of my favorite submissions. I normally dislike bright yellow shirts like that, but I can see it as sunlight- why you might not want it on other colors. Perhaps there could also be a cream color option, even with some pale yellow halo/glow around the rising sun they're forming?
Obviously the design is great despite my personal feelings about yellow. :) Good luck.

LOL, I notice quite a few of ya doesn't like yellow? The reason I use yellow is because I think it adds warmth and a hopeful feeling to the design. I suppose it might be ok too in a lighter yellow (definitely not a lemon or any cool yellow!) or a cream like PanadaSusana suggested. However, I am not sure about pure white.. but again, never say never :-) Thanks for all the suggestions.

I love this one. Not long after the disaster last week I began to think of a beautiful song by the Japanese American Jazz group called Hiroshima and the beautiful song they wrote and performed called "Thousand Cranes" dedicated to the story of Sadako Sasaki the Japanese girl who died as a result of cancer caused by the Atom Bomb being dropped on Hiroshima. There is a monument dedicated to this story in Hiroshima, Japan. The Children's Peace Memorial is where this is located.

When I saw this beautiful design on this yellow shirt I was moved to tears. This story is a very important story of love and triumph over immense adversity for the Japanese people. We need to send Japan a thousand cranes and each crane must be a prayer, a donation and anything else we can do to help these people.

Thank you, JHCowboy for this touching comment! Sadako is such an icon of courage. And yes, we all must chip in to help in any ways. There is no such thing as too small of a donations or help :-)

I am kinda disappointed that this design didn't get selected for printing. I really liked this one, and I actually like it in yellow.

I absolutely love this! I am currently organizing an art benefit for Japan and would like to ask your permission to use this design for the event flyer. I don't see your contact info on this site. Will you please email me at michcardona@gmail.com and I will send you more info. Thanks!

This is a beautiful design and the message is even more beautiful. I would love to use it for a calendar I'm creating. I work for a non-profit promoting a peaceful world free of nuclear weapons, and the Japanese paper crane is a powerful symbol that helps carry this message. If it's fine by you, please contact me at mona.saghri@gmail.com and I will provide you with further information. Thank you and keep up the amazing work!
