Sleeping with the fishes gets a bad reputation, but I assure you it's quite dreamy. Fish will never wake you up with chirping bouts at dawn.
A two color design, with optional additional print on the reverse side to allow double use.

Beautiful design, very light and airy, but with the carmine that warms up the room. Love it!

concrete shoes not included. But it comes with instructions on how to make your own!! :)

Sure, go for it :) Not like fish are an uber-original concept, I'm guessing the point will be in the execution, and it's bound to be different. Can't wait to see :)

hahahaha no, I don't think you will :) The Disney Villains comp had three designs called 'Ursula's Day Off', one of which was a collab between me and inkdummy. Nobody seemed to care. I just hope your color scheme and general look are at least a little different :) Alternatively you could call it 'Deep Sea Dreaming' or something, if that doesn't sound too squishy.

I like it, but the tips of the water currents make me think the fish are swimming in hair XD I think if all the tips were tucked in I wouldn't get the feeling of hair anymore. Otherwise, nice concept and color scheme.

personally I kind of like the 'swimming in hair' feel :) But there is a version that is completely filled out, with no negative space.

If you mean the linework in the back, I wanted to try my interpretation of a background element in a Threadless piece done by Freeminds and Dzeri29, which I really loved and thought would be a great technique to repurpose. Then it sort of grew organically, and I tried to introduce a bit more variation to make it visually exciting in a kind of calm way.

Interesting, what other products can you see your design on? There are lots of sea-themed entries. What do you think makes them so popular?

hm, don't know if we should do an interview thing here in the comments section :) The sea is generally a popular subject in art/design. In the case of this competition I think it's because it gives you good repeatable elements suitable for a pattern (waves, fish, ships) while still having some 'content' or story, as opposed to a geometric, ornamental or floral design.

Hmm. This is just an observation, but is this not the same background you also used for the Trina Turk competition? The Trina one has hot air balloons and is a different colour combo... but do you think you could run into problems if say both clients wanted to print? I'm not saying it breaks any rules, I am just curious as to what you think. I personally love it on duvet - I showed my husband and we want to buy one if it gets made!

yes, it is the same linework :) It took so much time to do I felt it best to use it as much as possible :) Winning both competitions is, seeing the sheer number of other entries and stellar quality of some of them, a pretty far-fetched concept. Frankly it's a problem I'd love to have. Some people have submitted the exact same design to a number of challenges - xiv's sky/stars pattern has been printed as a backpack last week, and he's such a strong contender here, so we'll see if one can get double prints with the same (or similar) designs. But honestly I don't expect to encounter that problem. Winning one challenge seems daunting enough.
